Optimal Allocation and Sizing of Distributed Generation Using Interval Power Flow

Modern distribution systems and microgrids must deal with high levels of uncertainty in their planning operation. These uncertainties are mainly due to variations loads distributed generation (DG) introduced by new technologies. This scenario brings challenges planners system operators that need tools perform more assertive analyses the grid state. paper presents an optimization methodology capable considering optimal allocation sizing problem DG networks. The proposed uses interval power flow (IPF) adds combinatorial charge allocating units network. Two metaheuristics were implemented for comparative purposes, namely, symbiotic organism search (SOS) particle swarm (PSO). was Python® using as benchmark IEEE 33-bus 69-bus test objective function consists minimizing technical losses regulating network voltage levels. results obtained from IPF on tested networks compatible those PPF, thus evidencing robustness applicability method. For solution problem, SOS metaheuristic proved be robust, since it able find best solutions (lowest losses) while keeping within predetermined range. On other hand, PSO showed less satisfactory results, all systems, found lower quality than ones SOS.
